Kids Say The Darnest Things

Don't you just love those moments between a child and his/her parents. You know the moment when your child says something that's hilarious but you have to hold the laughter in because it is really not something that you should laugh at. For example, when you drop something and you say "CRAP." Then your child turns to you and says "CRAP." What you really WANT to do is laugh but what you HAVE to do is be the parent and tell them how wrong that is.

Well Shaun, Christian and I had one of those moments last night. We were sitting at the table eating supper when Christian thought it would be a good idea to drop his food on the floor for Rockey and Mickey to eat. Here was Shaun and Christian's conversation...

Shaun: Christian do not drop your food on the floor for Rockey and Mickey.

Christian dropped more cheese on the floor for the dogs.

Shaun: Christian I have told you two times to stop dropping your food. If you do it again then you will sit in time out.

Christian: Don't talk to me.

Shaun: Excuse me?!? What did you just say? I WILL talk to you and you WILL listen when I talk to you. DO NOT THROW YOUR FOOD ON THE FLOOR AGAIN.

Christian: Don't talk to me.

ENOUGH SAID...

I thought I was going to laugh my head off, but of course, I had to be the parent...stay stern with Shaun...and make sure Christian understood that what he was saying to Shaun was not appropriate.

However, you better believe that when we were up from the table and Christian was playing I looked at Shaun and said..."Don't talk to me!"

Oh, kids say the darnest things!
