Toddler vs. Young Man

I knew that having a little boy was going to have its complicated moments that I would not fully understand how to deal with. The other night was one of those moments.

I said a few post ago that I wanted to document all the funny things that Christian says. This conversation between Shaun and Christian had me in tears and I want to be able to remember it forever.

For the last couple of months Christian has had a hard time going to bed at night alone. He keeps telling us that he is scared. He either wants us to sleep with him or for us to sit in an area where he can see us from his bed. We have been opting for the "sit in an area where he can see us" move.

Anyway, the other night we were sitting in the living room and Christian was in his bed going to sleep. We THOUGHT that he was finished with the whining, calling our names and asking for different things, and telling us that he could not see us.

All of a sudden we heard this whining coming from his room. We paused the TV and this was the conversation between Shaun and Christian:

S: Christian what is wrong?

C: My pee pee is big.

S: Your what?

C: My pee pee is big.

(Mom is in background beginning to die laughing.)

S: Christian that is okay. Just go to sleep.

C: But I can't get it to go down.

(Mommy and daddy are crying because we are laughing so hard...not just because of what he has just said but because his voice is very whinny as he is saying it.)

S: Christian that is alright. Sometimes that happens. Just leave it alone and close your eyes and it will go away.

OH MY GOSH! Really. I was totally not prepared for this when he was a toddler. I was hoping that I had a lot more years to prepare...haha.
