Caring for You and Your Baby Class

Tonight Shaun and I took our first prenatal class entitled "Caring for You and Your Baby." The class focused on how to care for your self and your baby when you come home from the hospital. Okay, you all know Shaun, his ADD, and his fear of harming a newborn baby. If only you could have been a fly on the wall. So, as we walked into the class, the first thing that the instructor handed us was a newborn baby doll. No, no, no, let me rephrase that: she didn't hand it to us, she handed it to Shaun. He was like..."What in the world, why do I get the baby?" She taught us how to hold the baby and Shaun held it the whole time cradled in his arms. It was adorable. As the night went on, he was completely focused and paying attention to everything that the instructor was saying, from breastfeeding to how many times you should change the baby's diapers. At the end of the class, we took a baby questionnaire. He knew all the answers. I was like "You go baby!" Afterwards, we went to different stations throughout the room (how to bathe the baby, how to suction mucus and milk from baby's mouth and nose, how to change diapers, and how to swaddle). He was so curious and asking lots of questions. He changed the diapers, swaddled the baby, and used the “booger snatcher.” It was wonderful...he is going to be the best dad every. I know he is so nervous for Christian to come home but he is going to be a natural. Oh, am I so lucky to have such a wonderful partner.
