A Very Special Mother's Day

Oh how hard it is to keep something so special from your family and friends. However, Shaun and I wanted to tell our families in a special way. Or should I say, I wanted too. I have always been the type to share special news in some kind of exciting way. No phone calls saying “guess what…” or emails stating the news in a typical way. I like the feeling of suspense. I like the extra-ordinary way of telling people that something special is happening to Shaun and me. However, it doesn’t always get to happen that way.
So, Shaun and I decided to hold onto our exciting news and not tell our families until Mother’s Day. I thought and planned about how I was going to share this news. Finally, I settled on purchasing photo albums for our moms and picture frames for our sisters that were engraved with "Baby Spivey due December 15th, 2008".
My mom’s reaction was priceless. We meet at my sister's house for dinner. I could not wait until my mom opened her present. I had held it in long enough. It was time to share that her little baby was having a baby of her own. My mother and I had been talking about a necklace and bracelet that I had purchased at Hand Picked a few weeks before. She loved it and wanted one for herself. The photo albums were from Hand Picked, so while she was opening it she thought I had gotten her the necklace and bracelet. Boy was she wrong. She was in shocked and speechless when she saw the picture frame. Just look at the picture below.
We shared our exciting news with Shaun’s family the next day. This moment was priceless as well. We meet at Red Lobster and had an excellent meal. However, before the meal came, I wanted Mrs. Gail to open her present so bad. You know it was hard to wait but when the time is right there in front of you, it is even harder. So, after everyone ordered, we did presents. Her present was the same as mom’s was. When she opened her present she did not notice the writing on the photo album. She started to share it with everyone at the table. Michael (my brother-in-law) asked her if she read what was on the album. She said no and read it. She was then in shock and speechless as well. She turned to us and said “Are you serious?” She first thought that it was a photo album for our nephew, John. Shaun's sister, Shelley, said she had an idea before because the dress I wore that day showed a little bump. She said she just knew because I had never had that little bump before. Here is her picture below.
