So Much to Tell...

Sorry I have not posted this week, but this week has been full of ups and downs. Here is the update for the week…
Tuesday’s Appointment:
Things did not go as planned. I was/am a little worried. My mom said “try not to be worried or stressed because when you are worried and stressed so is he.” That is easier said than done. At my appointment they did another biophysical profile (my ultrasound). A biophysical profile (BPP) is a test that measures the health of the baby (fetus) during pregnancy. A BPP test includes a nonstress test with electronic fetal heart monitoring and a fetal ultrasound. The BPP measures the baby's heart rate, muscle tone, movement, breathing, and the amount of amniotic fluid around the baby. Christian weighed in at 5 lbs 6 oz. (42% percentile). My fluid was at 7.94 cm. Last Tuesday it was at 8 cm. So, it went down a little (not what I want to hear each time I go in). Also, during my BPP ultrasound, Christian did not pass his breathing test. He is supposed to breath for 30 sec. within a 30 minute time frame. He did not. He would only breathe for about 10 seconds and stop, then breathe for 10 seconds and stop. When I asked what this meant they said that it was okay they would just have to monitor him some more…GREAT! So, they hooked me up to the non-stress test for about 20 minutes. When they hooked me up to, they asked me to monitor his movement. Every time he moved I had to push a button. He did not move. So, of course this scared me as well. After the test, they said that things looked good. I told him that I was not feeling him move, but the doctor said that he was because his heart rate was going up and down, which showed that he was moving around. They told me to monitor his movement at home tonight and call tomorrow if I did not feel him move 10 times in a 2 hour time period within 24 hours. That night be did move his 10 times within the 2 hour time frame.
Wednesday Night:
On Wednesday, I was laying on my couch when the phone rang. It was my doctor’s nurse. She told me that she had talked to him after I left yesterday and told him about my BPP. He was not happy that Christian did not pass his breathing test. He was concerned and wanted me to be monitored more. So, they sent me to the hospital (labor and delivery). While I was there they hooked me up to the nonstress test and found that everything was good. Christian was moving around and had a great heart rate. Not only did we get good news about Christian but we found out that I was already having contractions. That made me nervous because I have not packed my bags yet nor am I “ready” for him to be here. There is still so much to do. However, he may be here before we know it. Who knows, we could have a Turkey Day baby instead of a Christmas baby.
Friday’s Appointment:
I am not sure if I have having major pregnancy hormones or if this is all getting to me. I am sure it is both. Today at the doctor’s Christian passed his entire BPP test. However, the fluid is getting lower still. Today the fluid was at 7.38 cm. When I meet with the doctor today, he was scratching his head about what to do…do we deliver him or continue to monitor and watch the fluid. He said that if my fluid was below 5 cm then there would be no question…deliver. However, they are not sure what to do since it is not rising. They want to make sure that his lungs are healthy and ready to be born before they just deliver him. That is the only thing that is stopping them. He said that they could do an amniocentesis next Tuesday (remove some of the fluid and test it to see if his lungs are healthy enough to be delivered) but he did not recommend that, especially since I don’t have a lot of fluid to spare. So, they are just going to keep an extra eye out on my fluid from here on out…no more nonstress test only BPP’s to check the fluid.

Please continue to pray for Christian and us. We are praying that his lungs are healthy enough to deliver in case it comes to that, he comes on his own within the next few weeks, and that my fluid continues to stay around where it is.

Hey Donna!
Please know that I am continuing to pray for you, Shaun, and Baby Christian. You guys are so strong and have lots of people sending up prayers. We get a lot of 35 weekers in the NICU and they do awesome! However, I just know that Christian is going to hang out in there with you for quite awhile longer. Hang in there girl!
Love ya,
Heather

Donna,

You're in my prayers. I know it's hard to understand why all of this is happening, but God has a plan. Please take care of yourself and do "try" not to worry too much. Everything will happen in His timing. Can't wait to see little Christian. Love, Hollie
